My life's adventure
Koločep, April 15-22, 2006.

During the Easter vacation non-profitable institution "The Isle of Knowledge" and "Children’s Knowledge Assembly" were hosting a huge gathering on island of Koločep where many famous people demonstrated their jobs to primary school children from all over Croatia. Even though the Easter schedule was busy - for two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon every day - the whole event went by in a relaxed atmosphere among children and adults who were watching the whole event sitting in the audience. As seen from the event itself, the attendance and interest for each guest/teacher was great. Tarik Filipović, Zvone Boban, Larisa Lipovac, Domagoj Račić, Ivanka Mazurkijević, Edo Pezzi, Joško Marušić told children all the intersecting details about their profession and through many different workshops explained to them what is their occupation, how did they become to be what they are now and why are they the best in what they do. The main purpose of this program was to understand the true values of their professions for children and their parents, which will help children in their selection of their future careers.

The main Easter event was the second Children's assembly meeting where all the members (county heads) reported to the public about their activities during the one-year term. They talked about successes and problems they had encountered during the whole year. The meeting was presided by Drago Braić, the president of Children’s Knowledge Assembly.

Organized by the Isle of Knowledge and Ucilica, the first Children's Parliament of Knowledge will be held tomorrow at 13:00 in the former House of Counties of the Croatian Parliament. At the formal as well as working session, elementary pupils representing 21 Croatian counties and their president will present their regions and point at the need to fight ignorance. They will also present initiative to proclaim 1st October as International Day for Fight Against Ignorance. This initiative is part of the wide social activity "Fight Against Ignorance". Small county representatives have been elected during last school year in TV show "Ucilica" on the basis of own knowledge as well as thanks to the fact they know most people who helped them with answers to curriculum questions.

Children's Parliament of Knowledge is held under patronage of Croatian president Stipe Mesic, president of Croatian parliament Vladimir Seks and the City of Zagreb.

The Isle of Knowledge institution has introduced entrance examination for all who wish to have a fruitful discussion about the future of the island of Koločep and "Kalamota - the isle of knowledge" project.

Following numerous questions for support, we have introduced the institute of "Friend of the project" where individuals and institutions may express their support to our concept or give us advice. Visnja Serdar photo exhibition

Visnja Serdar photo exhibition titled "KALAMATO – THE ISLE OF KNOWLEDGE" was opened on Monday, 19th September 2005 at 19:00 in Europe House in Zagreb.

The exhibition was opened by Visnja Slavica Gabout, art historian. The event also saw presentation of the name-sake project of the development of the island of Kolocep (Kalamota).

The Isle of Knowledge organization submitted its offer to the tender organized by Croatian Privatization Fund intending to buy shares of Hoteli Koločep d.d. in order to realize Kalamota – the isle of knowledge project.
