Watching the sunset in
Donje Celo Bay.

Have you ever paid a visit to one of the smaller Croatian islands during the winter, a Mediterranean pearl like Koločep? Have you noticed how time has stopped, how you become restless due to the absence of noise, all that urban hustle and bustle we have grown accustomed to? Do you have a feeling that something happened which has made all people disappear somewhere... Well, everything is perfectly OK — it’s just a Croatian island as it looks in winter: isolated, remote, neglected. A grocery will serve you if you knock at the door of the grocer’s home. A few overseas letters a week reach the post office, two or three pensions a month. Day time is measured in terms of "before" and "after" the ship’s arrival.

Nothing happens, everything is desolate, bleak. Here you walk at a slow pace, because you generate an unwanted surplus of time if you arrive somewhere too soon... Koločep can do better, however! Its peace is its asset, its winter pensiveness is a transcendent foundation on which a modern camp should be laid for wise people from all over the world. Knowledge should be brought to this intact piece of the Mediterranean land, which cherishes the wisdom of bygone civilizations — teachers and students should be brought in who will know how to live in harmony with Koločep, how to preserve its undisturbed peace.

How is it here in winter?

Goran and Atifa moved in
from Zenica and are the one
of only few new inhabitants
of the island.

Here you walk at a slow pace, because you end up with unwanted spare time if you arrive somewhere too soon…
The island which preserves the wisdom of long-gone civilisations needs teachers and students who will know how to live in harmony with Koločep, preserving its undisturbed peace.
