There is a thin line between the destructive forces of the modern tourist industry and the traditional values of Koločep which we wish to preserve in a new form. It is this line we are going to follow on our way towards the realization of the KALAMOTA VISION — The Isle of Knowledge which includes the pursuit and exchange of knowledge, as well as the much coveted unity of the perennial values and the technology of the new millennium.

The future should not look down on the past, the guest and host relationship should not necessarily manifest itself as a clash of differences from which nothing but profit is desired. Koločep can live with the same intensity in winter as it lives in summer. The Isle of Knowledge can likewise be in the focus of tourist events, not a place on the fringe craving for bathers to drop by while on cruise boat excursions.

The Isle of Knowledge institution came up with an ambitious business plan which starts operating with the purchase or lease of real estate required for future educational and tourist activities on Koločep. The realization of the Project will make Koločep a place of top-class education combining theory and practice, science and business, a secluded place where Croatian and foreign experts will be able to share and exchange their knowledge and skills. All this, however, will be based on the principles of sustainable development, along with reliance on the original values springing from the Island’s rich history and tradition.
